The Robertson twins left their home in New Zealand at the age of 17 to move to Africa and immerse themselves in a true distance running culture. Eight years on, having lived and trained among the best runners in Kenya and Ethiopia, their results are finally catching up with their potential. This winter Meter magazine sent US filmmaker Joel Wolpert to New Zealand to catch up with the boys on one of their rare trips home. What’s more, Meter also met the boy’s mom—just how hard is it to wave goodbye to your 17 year old sons and watch from afar as they build a new life in Africa?
