sponsored: #RUNNOVATION – Fast Times Versus Good Times
That Was Then
Racing was all about finishing fast. In 1980 the median male marathon finisher crossed the line in 3:32:17 and the median female in 4:03:39.
This is Runnovation.
Races have evolved from being all about fast times to meeting needs of a diverse group of racers. While there are still plenty of jack rabbits gunning for the top spot, more racers are after good times instead of fast times (as in the journey at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Marathon and ½, pictured). In 2012 the median time for men was 4:17:43 and 4:42:48 for women.
