2010 Summer Shoe Guide Homepage

Nike’s Free running has been instrumental in helping to define the minimalist and barefoot movement that has captivated the running market. The newest of the Free shoes, the Free Run+ impressed our test team with their lack of impression—or rather, by the liberating qualities of foot flex, sock-like fit and seamless and cushioned feel. The team recommends easing into using the Free because the shoe gives so much flex that it necessitates training your feet to adapt to the forefoot style they encourage. That said, our testers reported that there is really no heel-striking in the Free so the transition category doesn’t apply and, fortunately, with a more efficient form, the need for motion control also dissipates. nike.com
