Newton Gravitas–($175)
2010 Fall Running Shoe Review Homepage
As the top-of-the-line neutral distance trainer, the Gravitas (or Gravity) has top marks from testers who, after getting used to the forefoot sensation, say the shoe makes them think a lot about their form; they recommend these shoes as a training tool to enhance running, depending on the speed or distance of the day’s run. The snug fit, other than an expansive forefoot, is quite comfortable, and the flex and cushioning is most welcome. One tester had some problems using the shoe and, accordingly, Newton’s technology needs to be used with caution and moderation—especially for heel strikers.
