adidas Launches New adizero Feather

It’s claimed to be the lightest everyday running shoe.

German athletic footwear and apparel company adidas yesterday announced the launch of the adizero Feather, their lightest offering in an everyday running shoe.

“With more runners seeking less shoe on their feet, we will continue to innovate with lighter weight products to help make runners of all levels faster,” said Mikal Peveto, head of running at adidas America. “The adizero Feather is the lightest shoe in its class making it the pinnacle of the adizero collection.”

Weighing in at only 6.7 ounces for men and 5.6 ounces for women, the adizero Feather offers the everyday runner the technology and performance benefits of the adizero Prime, a 3.5 ounce sprint spike, which will be worn by British heptathlete Jessica Ennis at the 2011 IAAF Track & Field World Championships in Daegu, Korea later this month.

“Nothing is more important for me than lightweight footwear and the adizero shoes are definitely the lightest training and competition shoes I have ever worn,” Ennis said. “What I love about them is that they are not only light but also give me the stability I need when it counts.”

The adizero Feather comes in an infrared color way and boasts the latest adidas technologies, including the new Sprintframe platform. Sprintframe ensures optimum forefoot propulsion and reduces weight significantly while maintaining important performance characteristics such as comfort and energy transfer. Adidas’ trademark Torsion system is fully integrated in into the new platform, allowing for independent movement of the foot.

A lightweight mesh construction in the upper lends to  maximum comfort, support and breathability and full forefoot adiPRENE+ enhances performance by offering a responsive, but still well-cushioned landing.
