He has two world-championship medals–a gold and silver–and after a two-week hiatus from racing, Mo Farah of Britain will be returning to the starting line.

The Somali-born Farah, who is now an Olympic medal favorite in either the 10,000m or 5000m at next year’s Olympics, is racing the Great North City Games on Saturday. Farah’s event is a two-mile race. He is on the British team that is comprised of fellow world-championship medalists Hannah England, who won silver in the 1500m, and Andy Turner, who earned 110m hurdle bronze.

At the games, the British team will be competing against the United States.

Farah, who lives in the United States and is coached by former American running champion Alberto Salazar, says he enjoys running for Britain. “I’m always happy to run for my country and even though I now live in the US, I’ll be trying my best to make sure we beat them in the team competition,” he noted.
