ARLINGTON, Va. — Muscle Milk Light ZOOMA Women’s Race Series and Every Mother Counts announce their partnership to increase education and support for maternal mortality reduction globally. Founded by Christy Turlington Burns, Every Mother Counts will be the National Charity Partner for the 2013 five-event ZOOMA series, including half-marathon and 5K/10K races in Amelia Island, Florida, Austin, Annapolis, Cape Cod, and the Chicago area.
ZOOMA participants will be encouraged to fundraise for EMC as part of their training. ZOOMA attendees will also be treated the night before the race with a complimentary screening of “No Woman, No Cry,” Christy Turlington Burns’s debut documentary film, in which she shares the powerful birth stories of at-risk pregnant women from around the world including her own.
Turlington Burns founded Every Mother Counts in 2010 to increase education and support for maternal mortality reduction globally. Every Mother Counts seeks to engage new audiences to better understand the challenges and the solutions while encouraging them to take action to improve the lives of girls and women worldwide.
“We are thrilled to reach new audiences through this partnership because it promotes health and well-being and support of one another as women,” said Erin Thornton, Executive Director of Every Mother Counts. “Together, we believe we can make pregnancy and childbirth safe for all moms.”
“Many of the challenges facing pregnant and new moms around the world are solvable,” said Brae Blackley, Founder & Executive Director of ZOOMA. “By partnering with Every Mother Counts, we hope to throw the weight of thousands of strong, active and powerful women behind this cause and make a real difference in the lives of women who need our help.”
