Woman Killed By Falling Tree Branch While Running

The runner was using an Ipod, and it could be partially to blame.

A freak accident in a park in Philadelphia has left one woman dead after being hit by a falling tree branch. Mary Katherine Ladany was out for her nightly jog in Fairmount Park when the 23-year-old was struck by a 30-foot branch after it fell over 50-feet. When authorities arrived she was laying under the branch and her Ipod was still playing. It is possible that if she had not been wearing the Ipod she would have heard the large branch cracking and falling and been able to avoid being hit.
