Wanjiru’s Wife Now Wants A Divorce

The reports that husband and wife have made up are apparently false.

Despite the recent news that Sammy Wanjiru and his wife, Tereza Njeri, have reconciled following a domestic disturbance at Wanjiru’s estate in Kenya, Njeri now apparently wants a divorce. According to an article on the Daily Nation’s Web site, Njeri made the decision due to what she called “relatives’ interference in domestic matters.”

She also said that she had feared for her life when Wanjiru, an Olympic gold medalist in the marathon, allegedly brandished an illegal assault rifle and threatened her last week.

“We had no problem last year but it appears we have a conflict with his mother. I want a divorce now,” she said.

Besides the threats to Njeri, Wanjiru has been charged with assaulting a security guard and threatening to kill a maid who worked at his compound.

It’s been reported that husband and wife have reconciled. But that is not the case, says Njeri. “We haven’t talked about anything, we haven’t discussed it yet,’’ she said.

Wanjiru has been released on bail and is to appear in a Kenyan court in March.
