One hundred Iowa runners broke a world record over the weekend, recording the fastest finishing time for an unusual relay race: A 100x5K.
Each runner ran a 5K on the track at Johnston High School, passing the baton to the next runner as they finished. The relay began Friday at noon and ended just after 4 p.m. Saturday, a finishing time of a little more than 28 hours.
The old record was 30 hours.
