Antonio Vega has won the men’s division of the 2010 USA Running Circuit, with the final men’s circuit race held Oct. 3 at Twin Cities which was the site of the USA Men’s Marathon Championship. He received his award and $6,000 prize check at the finish line of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon on Sunday.
Although Vega did not run in the marathon championship, he did compete in four of this year’s circuit races. He won the USA Half Marathon Championship last January, was second at the USA Men’s 10 Mile Championship in August, placed third at the USA 15k Championship in March, and finished fourth at the USA 7 Mile Championship held in July.
“Winning the USARC championship is an honor and an accomplishment that I am very proud of,” said Vega in a release. “It really has given me the confidence to continue to keep developing as a runner and going after some more championships.”
Next up for the Team USA Minnesota runner will be the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in Nanning, China, on Oct. 16. He will then compete at the ING New York City Marathon on Nov. 7.
