USOC implemented doping control tests prior to 1984 Games.

The USATF, the governing body for track and field in the United States, denies any knowledge of the doping control cover-up implemented by the US Olympic Committee prior to the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. The Orange County Register has reported that 34 American track and field athletes tested positive for banned substances prior to the 1984 Olympics. The athletes were reportedly told to get clean before the Olympics or they could not compete. USOC officials did not report the alleged dopers nor did they make public the tests.
