US Defends NACAC Cross Country Titles

DiCrescenzo and King take individual titles.

The United States successfully defended their North America, Central America and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Cross Country titles this past weekend in Tobago. To add to the hardware, Americans Delilah DiCrescenzo and Max King took home the individual open titles. On the junior side the men and women both took second to strong Canadian teams.

In the women’s race DiCrescenzo and teammate Emily Brown too the early lead until DiCrescenzo took the race over just past 5k. Her winning time of 20:50 over the 6K course placed her twelve seconds ahead of fellow American, and runner-up Emily Harrison. Brown would fade to seventh over the final quarter of the race. The women’s team scored a near-perfect 12 points to take the win with Mexico a distance second with 26.

King took early command of the men’s race and cruised to victory over the 8K course, clocking in at 23:49. The American men swept the top-four places, with Michael Spence, Bobby Mack and Tom Kloos placing 2-4. With the sweep the American men won with a perfect score of 10, easily outdistancing runner-up Mexico with 34.
