UROC Preview: Breckenridge-To-Vail Course
A deep field of trail runners will be racing in the Ultra Race of Champions 100K trail race on Sept. 28 from Breckenridge to Vail, Colo. The race is doubling as this year’s Skyrunner World Series Ultra Championship, an international series that also included races in Spain, Andorra, France, and Utah. UROC, now in its third year, has all the makings to be an epic event on the world stage. A $20,000 prize purse, which includes $5,000 for each 100K winner, and international bragging rights have brought a deep field of American and international runners. In this video, Competitor editor-in-chief Brian Metzler talks about the course with Spain’s Kilian Jornet, a three-time winner of the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc, Western States 100 (2011) and Pikes Peak Marathon (2012), and Colorado’s Trent Briney, a three-time U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier with a 2:12 PR.
