Uli Steidl Wins Seattle Marathon

It was his tenth victory in that race.

It was his 10th victory in that race.

At 41, Uli Steidl doesn’t seem to be slowing down. The Seattle resident came across the finish line in that city’s marathon last weekend, clocking a blazing 2 hours, 32 minutes, and 24 seconds.

Steidl, who wore bib No. 9, has dominated this race in the past and his win this year was his 10th overall.

“Number 10 was already given out,” Steidl joked about his bib assignment. Steidl ran unopposed in the final 10K of the race. “I looked around a few times to make sure nobody was coming from behind,” he said. “I didn’t feel super, but nobody feels super at the end, no matter how they run.”

Evan Blansham came in second place. The 27-year-old was 2 minutes behind Steidl.

Sheila Croft was the women’s champion. She came across the line in 2:58:25. Croft lives in Seattle and remarked that she ran past her house twice during the race.

“That’s my running route,” she said. “I knew exactly what the course was going to be like.”
