Tyson Gay Withdraws From 200m, Hopes To Run 4X100m Relay

American 100m silver medalist has decided to rest a sore groin in hopes of relay gold.

One day after claiming silver, and a new American record of 9.71, in the men’s 100m at the world track and field championships in Berlin, Tyson Gay has withdrawn from the men’s 200m. Gay has been suffering from a sore groin all season and has decided that he will forgo a re-match with Jamaican Usain Bolt in order to focus on helping the US win the men’s 4X100m relay. Gay said, “I would like to be a part of Team USA’s 4x100m and belive this decision will give me the best chance to be ready for the relay.”
