Track And Field Star Named 2009 Laureus World Sportswoman Of The Year

Olympic gold medalist and world record pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva wins coveted award.

For the second time, Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva has won the coveted Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year award.  (Just because you’ve never heard of it doesn’t mean it’s not coveted!) Unquestionably the best female pole vaulter in the world, Isinbayeva continues to break world records and rack up Russian, European and world titles left and right.  The question remains, when will Isninbayeva finally reach her limit?  It is no secret that Isinbayeva has, in the past, underachieved in order to gain multiple world record bonuses in a season.  The question is, is she still sandbagging or will she finally reach her limit in 2009?
