Tokyo Runner Makes 13-Mile Apple Logo

He did it to thank retiring CEO, Steve Jobs.

For many techies, the recent news of Apple CEO Steve Jobs has brought forth emails and blog postings of thanks for his contributions to the computing world. For Tokyo-based runner Joseph Tame, the news evoked a different response–one in the shape of a 13-mile-long Apple logo.

Using two iPhones and his trusty legs, Tame mapped the equivalent of a digital heart for Jobs. He completed the 13.1-mile half marathon in two hours.

Tame used an app called “Runkeeper” to track his path, which took him through the center of Tokyo. His phone automatically drew the logo as he ran. Tame started his journey of thanks at the Imperial Palace. It then winds through Roppongi, and weaves around Shinjuku to Kagurazaka.

Tame has been in the news before. Using a strange contraption that he calls “iRun”, he has mapped out other pictures in Tokyo, including a Hello Kitty, a nine-mile Twitter bird, and an elephant.
