Team USA Places Third At BolderBOULDER 10K

Deena Kastor placed fourth overall.

Deena Kastor placed fourth overall.

One of the largest road races in the United States, the BolderBOULDER 10K, took place on Monday in Colorado. As part of this event, organizers pit some of the best countries in the world against each other in what is known as the International Team Competition.

In both the men’s and women’s divisions, the Americans ended up on the podium in third place.

Aaron Braun, Kenyon Neuman, and Brent Vaughn scored for the men, while Olympic marathon bronze medalist Deena Kastor, Stephanie Rothstein, and Laura Thweatt held up their end of the bargain to keep the United States on the podium.

Kastor ended up placing fourth overall in the annual race that started in 1979.

Kenya and Ethiopia went 1-2 in the men’s race. Allan Kiprono, who won the race last year, was the overall winner. The Kenyan, coached by KIMbia’s Dieter Hogen, clocked 29 minutes and 28.79 seconds.

“It was another hot day in Boulder, so nobody was interested in a very fast pace,” Allan said on the running website Take The Magic Step. “But I am very happy to win for the second year in a row.”
