American track & field fans take note: now is the time to find out who to root for at next month’s IAAF World Championships in Athletics.
According to the USATF, the official roster of Americans competing there has been announced.
In the middle-distance events, this includes some especially young talent: two teenage runners, Mary Cain and Ajee Wilson. Cain will compete in the 1500m, while Wilson will tackle the 800m.
At the other end of the distance spectrum lies some seasoned runners such as repeat Olympian and bronze medalist Shalane Flanagan in the 10,000m. Flanagan is joined by Jordan Hasay and Amy Hastings in that event.
On the men’s roster, pay close attention to former University of Oregon standout Galen Rupp, who is entered in both the 5000m and 10,000m events. Rupp won the Olympic silver medal in the 10,000m last summer in London.
