Ryan Hall Headlines Bay To Breakers Field

It will be his first race this year.

It will be his first race this year.

The fastest American to ever run the Boston Marathon course, half-marathon record holder Ryan Hall will be lacing up his racing flats this weekend in San Francisco.

The event that Hall hopes to win is the famed Bay to Breakers 12K.

Along with the half-marathon record (59:43), Hall also owns the American mark for 20K (57:54). He was supposed to race in Boston this year, but didn’t start due to injury. The Bay to Breakers 12K will be Hall’s first race of 2013.

Toeing the line with Hall is Tesfaye Alemayehu — an Ethiopian who resides in Antioch, Calif. Bay to Breakers has been good to Alemayehu in that he has been a consistent top-five finisher in the race.

Also in the mix is another top American, Bolota Asmerom, who has finished in the top 10 twice. Additionally, he’s got the fastest 5000m time in the field.

On the women’s side is Diane Nukuri-Johnson, who took second in the race last year.
