For as little as $20 you can watch a video of the course.

Can’t find a way to qualify for the Boston Marathon? No worries! An innovative company, Outside Interactive, has come up a solution for you: watch a DVD of the course while running on a treadmill. “Some people may not be able to qualify for the Boston Marathon,” said Outside Interactive owner Gary McNamee. “This gives them the next best thing.”

The DVDs sell from $20 to $40 and offer runners the chance to watch the course from 7,8,9, or 10-minute-per-mile pace. They are designed to help runners who need inspiration when the weather outside isn’t cooperating.

“Jump on a treadmill and try to run more than a mile,” McNamee said. “If you’re bored, you’re a candidate.”

For a steeper price, $250, runners can purchase the company’s Virtual Runner Software System, which connects the video pace to a sensor on your sneaker.
