Rudisha Toeing The Line In Lausanne Tonight

The world-record holder in the 800m, David Rudisha of Kenya, will be taking to the track tonight in Lausanne, Switzerland for the Athletissima 2011, which is the the seventh leg of the 2011 Samsung Diamond League series.
Last week, Rudisha made a truimphant comeback from injury to clock a 1:43.46 in Nancy, France.
The 22-year-old middle-distance ace is the son of an Olympic 4x400m silver medallist. Last August, he broke Wilson Kipketer’s 13-year-old 800m record by running 1:41.11 in Berlin.
Seven days later, Rudisha broke his own record in Rieti when he ran 1:41.01.
“Well, it was a great week for me,” he later recalled.
Rudisha is now looking forward to the 2012 Olympics. He missed the 2008 Games thanks to a calf injury. However, he first wants to win gold at the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
After the Lausanne race, Rudisha will head to Kenya where he will compete in the Kenyan Trials on July 16. After that event, he will compete in Monaco on July 22 and in London on August 5.
Rudisha has been recovering from an ankle injury he sustained earlier this year.
