On the heels of an announced sellout for the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll Mexico City Half Marathon, the race series revealed today the launch of another half marathon in Mexico—Rock ‘n’ Roll Mérida Half Marathon, set for Oct. 31, 2015.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Mérida, like Mexico City, will be a night race that starts at sunset. It will explore the capital city located on the Yucatan Peninsula about an hour from the well-known international tourist destination of Cancun. About 5,000 runners are expected to participate.
“Mexico has a tremendous running community and through our strong partnership with As Deporte, a world-class event operator, and we both look forward to launching two new nighttime events in two spectacular cities in Mexico in 2015,” said Josh Furlow, Executive Vice-President of Global Events for Competitor Group.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Mexico City, scheduled for March 15th, has sold out and will have 10,000 entrants at the start line.
Like other Rock ‘n’ Roll events, Mérida will be a 13.1-mile journey featuring live music, themed water stations and thousands of cheering spectators. The running festival experience is topped off with a finish line concert featuring a major headline act.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Mérida Half Marathon is opening registration for 24 hours on January 30th with a special price of $65, and will increase to $75 on February 6. Registration will be available online at RunRocknRoll.com/Merida.
Rock ‘n’ Roll’s international presence already includes races in Canada (Montreal and Vancouver), Portugal (Lisbon), Spain (Madrid), the United Kingdom (Liverpool) and Ireland (Dublin).
