Runners displaced from the canceled Boulder Marathon can get a free entry to the Oct. 19 Rock 'n' Roll Denver event.

Runners displaced from the canceled Boulder Marathon can get a free entry to the Oct. 19 Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver event.
With the news of the unfortunate cancellation of the Boulder Marathon, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series and Janus have made complimentary entries available for displaced Boulder entrants to run the Janus Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Marathon or 1/2 Marathon on Sunday, Oct. 19.
Boulder runners can email proof of registration to rnrdenver@competitorgroup.com with subject line of “Boulder Transfer” to receive a complimentary entry. The Janus Rock ‘n’ Roll Denver Marathon will guarantee spots for the first 200 transfers and additional entries will also be made available subject to capacity.
“The cancellation of the Boulder Marathon is obviously disappointing news for the local running community,” said Casey Cortese, VP of Experiential Marketing with Denver-based Janus. “At Janus, we understand the level of investment that runners make to prepare for a race—your dedication and perseverance are traits we highly admire. That’s why we are proud to partner with the Janus Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon team to offer this special opportunity for the runners of the Boulder Marathon. We hope you will continue your race journey and join us on October 19 in Denver.”
UPDATE: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series has expanded its offering to 300 transfers in the wake of demand. It has also offered a $50 voucher good for any remaining Rock ‘n’ Roll series event in 2014 for those unable to go to Denver.
In addition to Rock ‘n’ Roll’s outreach, the Boulder-based event company Human Movement Management attempted to put on a free marathon on Oct. 5 for runners in Boulder. But the Boulder Daily Camera reported that permits were unable to be secured and that race will not take place on that day.
