South African Hendrick Ramaala, the 2004 New York City Marathon champion with a personal best of 2:06:55 from London in 2006, has committed to run at The Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon & ½ Marathon to Benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on June 6.
“I’m excited to run the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon,” said the 38-year-old Ramaala. “Every morning I push my training. I’ve heard a lot of nice things about the race and city of San Diego and I would love to do well in front of the people and put on a good show.”
For the first time in San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll history, a half marathon will accompany the full 26.2-mile main event, and a combined 30,000 runners are expected to take to the streets of America’s Finest City. The newly-designed race course will feature 26 local bands playing live music along the route, which finishes at Sea World.
