Check out this gallery from the 2014 UROC 100K in Copper Mountain, Colorado.

The third annual Ultra Race of Champions (UROC) 100K took place this past weekend in Copper Mountain, Colo., on a 62-mile course with 10,543 feet of elevation gain. Chris Vargo, a 32-year-old runner from Flagstaff, Ariz., was the overall winner in 9:44:42 (a 9:26 mile pace). Vargo finished about 10 minutes ahead of 36-year-old Dane Mitchell of Loveland, Colo., who crossed in 9:54:45. The win was Vargo’s fourth of the year, adding to his victories at the U.S. 50-mile championship at the Cayuga Trail 50-miler on June 1 in Ithaca, N.Y., the Whoos in El Moro 50K on May 10 in Newport Beach, Calif., and the Way Too Cool 50K on March 7 in Cool, Calif.

Anita Ortiz of Eagle, Colo., was the top female  finisher in 12:05:01, good for seventh overall. The 50-year-old Ortiz, the 2009 Western States 100 champion, won the Uber Rock 50K last year during the UROC weekend and has since won two other 50Ks this year as well as the Pikes Peak Marathon. In all, 55 runners completed the UROC 100K, with 48 more doing the Uber Rock 50K and 24 finishing the Cruxy Half Marathon.
