U.S. women earn bronze, men finish fourth in Italy.
The U.S. Mountain Running Team once again shined at the World Mountain Running Championships. At Sunday’s 30th annual event in Casette di Massa, Italy, the U.S. women’s team placed third in the 8.4K race, while the men placed fourth in the 11.7K race. Allie McLaughlin of Colorado Springs, Colo., was the top U.S. finisher, earning the bronze medal in the women’s race. Check out the photos of the races (below) which sent runners through one of the quarries of the “Bacino di Gioia,” where marble has been extracted for many historical masterpieces of Italian art for hundreds of years.
