Scenes From Boston 2014

Boston is alive with energy this weekend in anticipation of the 2014 Boston Marathon. The moment runners and spectators arrive in Boston they’re enveloped in a palpable buzz of excited energy for the 118th running of the world’s most historic race. Supportive banners, posters and billboards are evident in the airport, the T stations and along busy thoroughfares. Official marathon jackets are worn with pride, Boston Strong Marathon Daffodils line the race route and people gather in droves to take photos of the finish line on Boylston Street. As much as the experience feels at times like a celebration of running, a festival for runners and a communal bonding opportunity for those still grasping what happened in 2013, 36,000 people are in town to run from Hopkinton back to Boston on Monday. We have the images of what racers experience as they walk the streets, pick up their bibs and explore the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo. Click through to get an inside look at the action.
