China’s Great Wall Marathon
The Great Wall Marathon—a grueling 26.2-mile race held almost entirely on the Great Wall of China—was held on May 17 in Tianjing, China. Since its inception in 1999, the field has grown steadily to a sold-out event with more than 2,500 runners from over 52 countries competing in the marathon, half marathon or 8.5K fun run. Jason Shen of China won this year’s marathon in 3:41:40, while Eleanor Williamson of the U.S. was the top female finisher (and 16th overall) in 4:18:35.
