2014 Dubai Marathon

History was made at the 2014 Dubai Marathon, as 18-year-old Tsegaye Mekonnen Asefa of Ethiopia won the men’s race in a junior world record time of 2:04:32. Finishing second in 2:05:13 was Asefa’s countryman Markos Geneti Guteta, while Girmay Birhanu Gebru — also of Ethiopia — crossed the line third with a time of 2:05:49.

In the women’s race, 30-year-old Mula Seboka claimed victory with a time of 2:25:23. Ethiopia swept the women’s podium as well, with Meselech Melkamu (2:25:23) and Firehiwot Dado (2:25:53) taking second and third.
