One of the most scenic races in the United States, the America’s Finest City Half Marathon, took place over the weekend in San Diego, Calif. The race took runners from Cabrillo National Monument through downtown San Diego and eventually to Balboa Park.
The hot temperatures hampered many of the times, but in the men’s race, a familiar name finished first–Nelson Oyugi of Kenya won the race in 1:05:17, well off the course record he set a year ago but fast enough to defend his title. On the women’s side, Lindsey Scherf of Chapel Hill, N.C., won in a time of 1:14:33.
