Priscah Jeptoo wins the women's race in New York as Buzunesh Deba finishes second
















Kenyan Priscah Jeptoo caught Ethiopian Buzunesh Deba just before mile 23 in the New York City Marathon, and then kept running straight past her en route to victory. Jeptoo’s finishing time of 2:25:07 was more than enough to earn her the win, with Deba crossing the line in 2:25:56. Placing third was Latvian Jelena Prokopcuka (2:27:47). Adriana Nelson finished 13th and was the top American in the women’s field, clocking a 2:35:05. American Tatyana McFadden won the women’s wheelchair division with a time of 1:59:13 ahead of Wakako Tsuchida (2:02:54) and Manuela Schar (2:03:53).
