2011 Boston Marathon–Men’s Elite Race

It was a record-setting day in the men’s race at the 2011 Boston Marathon as Kenyan Geoffrey Mutai scorched the historic route, shattering the previous course record by 2 minutes and 49 seconds to win in 2:03:02–the fastest marathon ever run. His countryman, Moses Mosop, was second in 2:03:06, the fastest debut marathon in history. American Ryan Hall placed fourth for the second straight year, running a personal best of 2:04:58.
