Patrick Makau Running Safaricom Road Race

He is coming off a great win in Frankfurt.

He is coming off a great win in Frankfurt.

The world-record holder in the marathon, Patrick Makau, will be heading back to his native country of KEnya to take part in the Safaricom Imenti South road race in the Nkubu area.

The event takes place on December 15. Joining Makau will be Cyprian Kiogora, who won the 2010 edition of the Hong Kong Marathon.

Makau is coming off a phenomenal win at the Frankfurt Marathon last month.

At a recent press conference, he commented about his influence with young runners. “It is always good to see young people coming up and we can only help by inspiring and supporting them to go through the process. I want to see athletes from my area put on running spikes as they plan to launch their athletic career,”

In January, Makau has noted he will decide whether or not to compete in the world championships in 2014.
