Asbel Kiprop returns to defend his title.

At the ExxonMobil Bislett Games on June 7 in Oslo, Norway, all eyes will be on the “dream mile” event.

Once again, a world-class field of middle-distance aces has been assembled to compete for the win. At the top of the list is the defending champion, Asbel Kiprop of Kenya.

Thus far, Kiprop has shown the world at the 800m that he is clearly the man to beat. During the Australian summer, he clocked 1:45.91 for that distance. He then set a new personal best in the 1500m (3:29.78) in Doha.

In the mix is the former world indoor champion, Abdelaati Iguider of Morocco as well as well as Bahrain’s Youssef Saad Kamel.

The best that Europe has is Poland’s Marcin Lewdowski who won the European Championship 800m event.

Running in front of a hometown crowd will be Norway’s new national 1500m record holder, Henrik Ingebritsen. Just 21, Ingebritsen recently ran 3:36.39 at the Payton Jordan Classic in Palo Alto, California.
