Oakland To Host First Marathon In A Quarter Century

Marathons are so popular these days that a large city really can’t be taken seriously without one.

Scheduled for March 2010, the new Oakland Marathon will be a part of a planned three-day running festival. As many of these events do, the new Oakland Marathon will include a relay option and several shorter races–a half-marathon, a 5K, and a kids’ fun run–to attract greater numbers. Auto insurance giant Geico has already been secured as a title sponsor. Registration is open.
