No Changes To NYC Marathon Start Line

Runners will continue to assemble at Fort Wadsworth.

The end of the U.S. Government shutdown is a good-news story for prospective New York City marathoners. According to a press release from the governing body of that race, the New York Road Runners, the marathon start will continue to be at Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island.

“With the resolution of the federal government shutdown, the 2013 ING New York City Marathon staging area will remain unchanged,” read the press release. “Runners will assemble at Fort Wadsworth and start the race at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, as always.  We thank our city, state and federal partners, as well as the entire Staten Island community, for their partnership and look forward to a great race for our City.”

The New York City Marathon is scheduled to take place on Nov. 3. Last year’s race was cancelled due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy.
