Nine-Year-Old Plans Antarctic Marathon For Charity

According to records, he will be the youngest person to attempt it.

According to records, he will be the youngest person to attempt it.

He’s only in 4th grade, but that isn’t stopping Nikolas Toocheck of West Chester, Pa. from dreaming big.

The nine-year-old is planning to head to Antarctica to run a marathon, the White Continent Marathon & Half organized by Marathon Adventures, that kicks off on February 25. If he finishes, he will be the youngest person ever to complete this feat.

Toocheck has covered 26.2 miles before, in Lewes Delaware last December.

He is running the Antarctic race for Operation Warm, a charity that provides new winter coats to 200,000 children across 40 states.

“I’ve learned how important it is to help other people who need it,” Nikolas says, “and I think that Operation Warm is great because every kid should be able to have their very own warm coat. I get to do something I love so much and help children in need at the same time. It’s so awesome! Is there anything better?”
