Nick Symmonds To Compete On ‘American Ninja Warrior’
The Olympian moves on to his next (and surprisingly non-running related) venture.
From beer miles to launching his own gum product, Symmonds moves on to his next (and surprisingly non-running related) venture as a ninja warrior.
Today, American track star, two-time Olympian and beer-miler Nick Symmonds announced on his Instagram account (@nicksymmonds) that he’ll be competing on the seventh season of NBC’s American Ninja Warrior. He’ll be showcasing his ninja prowess on the course March 13th and 14th in Los Angeles.
Prior to the announcement, the world championship 800-meter silver medalist hinted at the news yesterday by posting a video of him doing pull-ups on his Instagram account. According to Sporting News, Symmonds was selected after submitting another video of him working out with strength training and conditioning coach Jimmy Radcliffe, who Symmonds has worked with for seven years now. The show reached out to Symmonds Monday night about his selection. (We wonder if the preview video is a shot from his video submission).
As noted in today’s post, Symmonds makes it clear that his primary goals remain with his track and field endeavors—to make the U.S. national team for the IAAF World Championships in Beijing coming up in August and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro. It will certainly be interesting to see how his track and field training will aid him in the unbelievable acrobatics of American Ninja Warrior.
