This year’s Boston Marathon runner-up hopes to win in the Windy City.
The man who finished behind Geoffrey Mutai at this year’s Boston Marathon, Moses Mosop of Kenya, announced today that he is continuing his circuit of major American marathons with a stop at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon this fall.
Mosop is the fastest debut marathoner of all time. His 2:03:06 in Boston broke the previous debut mark, which had been held by Evans Rutto when he ran 2:05:50 in Chicago eight years ago.
Mosop thinks he can capitalize on Chicago’s flat and fast course and run even faster than he did in Boston.
“I was very pleased with my performance at the Boston Marathon, especially since it was my first marathon. In my second marathon, I want to run even faster,” he said. “I feel that the Bank of America Chicago Marathon is where I have the best opportunity to do that. I like the course, I feel strong in my training and I am looking forward to coming back to Chicago for this great event.”
