Moses Mosop Looking For Big Purse

The world's second-fastest marathoner heads to Dubai next month.

The world’s second-fastest marathoner heads to Dubai next month.

Kenya’s Moses Mosop is on the hunt. Next month at the Dubai Marathon, the marathoner will be looking to cash in on his fitness by seeking to win the $1 million prize should he break the course record there.

Mosop, who came in second to Geoffrey Mutai at the 2011 edition of the Boston Marathon, clocked a blazing 2:03:06 on that day made famous for a massive tailwind.

He won the Chicago Marathon later that year.

“The course in Dubai is flat and can be a good ground to make an attempt on the world record,” said from his training base in Eldoret. “However, it is going to be tough. My intension is to win the race, the record, it comes, will be a bonus. There are many top names lining up there and I need to be at my level best.”

If Mosop wins in Dubai, there’s a good chance he will go on to represent his country at the World Championships in Moscow.
