Moscow To Waive Visa Fees For Athletes, Officials At Worlds

Good news for athletes and officials planning to attend this summer’s IAAF World Championships in Moscow: There won’t be any fees for temporary visas.

Fans, however, still need to follow the full legal process that’s required for someone entering the country. But Alexander Palinsky, who is part of the organizing committee, said the policy about fans could change soon.

Palinsky said that although the decision has been made to hand out free visas to athletes and officials, more paperwork has to be filed before the policy is made official.

In 2008, Russia waved visa fees for fans with valid tickets for the Champions League soccer final between Manchester United and Chelsea.
