Mo Farah Running Westminster Mile

The inaugural event kicks off on May 26.

The inaugural event kicks off on May 26.

He’s a double-Olympic gold medalist at longer races (5000m and 10,000m), but British runner Mo Farah will next be trying his hand at the mile.

Specifically, Farah will be lacing up his racing flats to compete in the Westminster Mile on May 26, a day-long series of one-mile events that occur on the same roads that were made famous by last summer’s Olympics.

“I am very happy to be part of this new event taking place on the most famous mile in the world, following the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics in London,” Farah said. “Such an event inclusive of all age groups and abilities, is a great legacy from the games and an inspiration to all.”

The races will begin on the famous Mall and then finish with Buckingham Palace in the background.
There will be more than 20 competitions held throughout the day. Runners of all ages and abilities will be taking part.
