Mo Farah Dishes On Marathon

He will move up to the 26.2-mile distance next spring in London.

He will move up to the 26.2-mile distance next spring in London.

One of the greatest distance runners ever to run on the track, Mo Farah, has recently spoken about his step up to the marathon that takes place next year at the London Marathon in April.

The Somali-born British citizen, a double Olympic gold medalist, chatted with ITV’s Rags Martel recently.

“I’ve never run the marathon, I’ve run a couple of half-marathons, it’s quite a long way,” Farah said. “I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve watched it before, some great athletes have won it. It’ll be nice to continue that and be good at the marathon — but I don’t know, we’ll find out.”

Farah is coached by former New York City and Boston Marathon champion Alberto Salazar. Though a British citizen, Farah lives and trains in Portland, Ore. alongside fellow Nike teammate Galen Rupp.

Last month, Farah prevailed in both the 5000m and 10,000m events at the world championships in Moscow.
