EAGAN, Minn. – Anderson Race Management, Explore Minnesota Tourism and Minnesota Distance Running Association have teamed up again for the second edition of a statewide running series called the “Explore Minnesota Challenge.” This series of more than 25 races in four designated areas around the state of Minnesota encourages people to get out there and take part in various running, walking, biking and triathlon events throughout the year. The second annual Explore Minnesota Challenge kicks off on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the Securian Winter Run in St. Paul.
“Minnesota is well positioned for active travel,” said Explore Minnesota Tourism Director, John Edman. “The Explore Minnesota Challenge is a great way to visit all parts of Minnesota while staying fit along the way. Results from the first year of the Challenge showed people visiting areas they’ve never travelled to as well as taking parts in events they didn’t know were out there.”
Organizers say the Challenge offers participants the chance to set their own schedules and to have an attainable goal for the year. “Research shows that 78% of people who make New Year’s Resolutions don’t follow through,” said Anderson Race Management Owner/President Mary Anderson. “The Challenge gives people an easily attainable year-long plan and is something they can do with friends and family.”
