The 2014 Boston Marathon winner will pace the 10K and will kick off the half and full marathons.

Reigning Boston Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi will headline the upcoming Humana Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & 1/2 Marathon Dec. 5-7.

Among Keflezighi’s duties for the weekend will be to pace the Rock ‘n’ Roll 10K on Dec. 6, a new race at the three-day event. He’ll also host clinics at the Health & Fitness Expo and will be at the start line of the half and full marathons on Dec. 7 as the Grand Marshal.

“From Boston to New York, 2014 has been a great year for me and I look forward to capping it off with thousands of my fellow runners in San Antonio,” said Keflezighi, who recently finished fourth and was the first American at the New York City Marathon. “My motto, ‘Run To Win,’ means to get the best out of yourself and I look forward to helping athletes of all abilities achieve their goals in San Antonio next month.”

Said San Antonio City Manager Sheryl Sculley: “We are thrilled to have Meb join us in San Antonio to help inspire even more people to run and live a healthy and active lifestyle. Not many people will ever be able to play basketball with Tim Duncan or catch a touchdown from their favorite quarterback, but here runners will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to run shoulder to shoulder with one of the greatest runners in American history.”

Taking place in December for the first time in the event’s seven-year history, the race weekend includes a marathon, half marathon, 2-person half marathon relay, 10K, 5K and a Bike Tour, which all start downtown at the intersection of Cherry Street and Commerce Street. Sunday’s races will feature cheerleaders and live bands along the race routes to create the ultimate fitness-centric, block party environment. Multi-platinum rock band Everclear will headline the finish line concert at the Alamodome.

Participants who complete the 10K on Saturday and any race on Sunday will also earn a special spinning “Remix Challenge” medal, offering the chance to get three medals over race weekend.
