Runners participating in the sold out Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon weekend will have plenty of opportunities to meet, speak to and even run with Meb Keflezighi, the United States’ top marathoner.
Meb, the 2014 Boston Marathon champion who most recently finished fourth at the New York City Marathon, will be in Las Vegas the entire weekend—and his schedule is a busy one. While some of it entails doing media interviews, meeting with sponsors and attending a VIP reception, there are plenty of opportunities for runners in Vegas to meet Meb throughout the weekend.
Here’s a schedule of appearances to keep in mind:
Friday, Nov. 14
Meb will be at the Health & Fitness expo at the Las Vegas Convention Center for much of Friday, meeting and taking photos with fellow runners at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon booth and hosting an hour-long clinic starting at 1 p.m. All told, he’ll spend about three hours at the expo on Friday.
The expo opens at 11:30 a.m., but holders of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Tour pass can gain entrance and meet Meb at 11 a.m.
Saturday, Nov. 15
Like Friday, Meb will be at the expo for several hours on Saturday, once again punctuated with a 1 p.m. clinic at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The expo opens at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, but Tour Pass holders can get in at 10 a.m. and meet Meb at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon booth.
After the expo, Meb will make his way down to the Las Vegas Strip by 6 p.m. to participate in the inaugural 5K that evening on the Strip.
Sunday, Nov. 16
Meb will be among the thousands of runners running the Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Half Marathon starting at 4:30 p.m. Sunday on the Las Vegas Strip. He will be pacing the 1:45 group—an 8:00 per mile pace.
As part of his pacing, Meb will have his own corral at the start, immediately after corral 6. However, those wanting to be in Meb’s corral must sign up at the “Corral Change” table at the Health & Fitness Expo, and provide proof of running a half marathon in the 1:45 range recently.
