Meb Breaks Down Boston

The fifth-place finisher reveals he had only nine weeks of training in his legs.
Meb Keflezighi’s coach, Bob Larsen, says it best: “Meb outraces his training.” His recent fifth-place finish and 2:09:26 time at the Boston Marathon seem almost miraculous when you consider the limited training he was able to do because of a knee injury, not to mention the pain that injury caused him within the race itself. And to top it all off, as Meb confesses in a new post on his blog, he “desperately needed to take a bathroom visit” during the last 10K!
Although this race has to be classified among Meb’s disappointments, at the same time it bodes well for his future prospects. Just imagine what a healthy Meb can still do!
