‘Marathon Man’ On His Way To World Record

He wants to finish 160 races by December 31.

He wants to finish 160 races by Dec. 31.

Who says marathoners don’t have fun?

Trent Morrow of Sydney, Australia is definitely someone who doesn’t take himself too seriously. According to a report posted on the MLive website last weekend, Morrow is out to set a new world record: completing the most marathons in a year.

On Sunday, Morrow ran the Metro Health Grand Rapids Marathon, his 116th 26.2-mile race for the year.

By the end of 2013, Morrow is aiming for 160.

“It’s fun to see the kids faces light up,” says Morrow, who wears a Superman costume during his runs. “I love being able to do that. It’s a serious event and I respect the distance, but I like to put some fun back into the marathon. It’s like I transform into another character.”

Larry Macon current holds the world record at 152 marathons in a calendar year.

On average, Morrow, who is 39 years old, completes three marathons a week.
